Your Health Insurance May Be Changing in 2027- Here’s What to Know

If you get your health insurance through the ACA Marketplace, you may see some changes when it’s time to renew for 2027.

Several insurance companies have announced that they will no longer offer Marketplace plans in certain states. If your insurance company is leaving your state, don’t worry – this doesn’t mean you’ll lose your opportunity to have coverage. It means you’ll need to review your options and choose a new plan for 2027.

Which insurance companies are making changes?

Some of the carriers making Marketplace changes for 2027 include:

  • Cigna –  leaving the Marketplace in 11 states
  • Baylor Scott & White – leaving the Texas Marketplace
  • CareSource –  leaving Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia
  • PacificSource – leaving Idaho, Montana and Oregon
  • Providence Health Plan – leaving the individual market in Oregon
  • Medica – leaving Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma
  • Mending Health – leaving the health insurance business
  • ConnectiCare –  leaving the Connecticut Marketplace
  • Cox HealthPlans – leaving the Missouri Marketplace
  • Ambetter/Centene – making Marketplace changes in Delaware and New Hampshire
  • Molina Healthcare– significantly reducing its Marketplace footprint

Carrier availability can vary by state and county, and changes may continue as 2027 plans are finalized.

What does this mean for you?

If your current insurance company is leaving the Marketplace, you don’t have to panic.

During Open Enrollment, you’ll have the opportunity to look at the plans available in your area and choose coverage that fits your needs.

This is also a great time to review:

-Your monthly premium
-Your deductible and out-of-pocket costs
-Your doctors and hospitals
-Your prescription coverage
-Your preferred network
-Any changes in your household or income

Don’t automatically renew without checking

Even if you have the same insurance company, your plan, premium, benefits and network can change from year to year. Taking a few minutes to review your options can help make sure you’re not paying more than necessary or losing access to the doctors and medications you rely on.
